Our Story
Belle Academy of Dance has been a cornerstone of the Davenport community for over 35 years — and the story of how we got here is one we're incredibly proud to tell.
It all began with Connie Bracey, who founded the studio and spent 15 years building something truly special: a place where children could discover the joy of dance in a warm, nurturing environment focused on technique, growth, and belonging.
When Connie passed the baton to Kay Ferris, that foundation only grew stronger. Kay dedicated 21 years to shaping Belle Academy into the studio families know and love today, guiding countless young dancers from their very first pliés all the way to the stage.
Today, Belle Academy enters an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Randin Letendre and Melinda Hager — a mother-daughter team with nearly two decades of history at the studio themselves. Their vision is simple: honor everything that has made Belle Academy great while continuing to grow the community that has always been at its heart.
Perhaps the greatest testament to what this studio means is the families who keep coming back. We have dancers whose parents once danced in these very same studios — moms and dads who loved their time at Belle so much that bringing their own children here was never a question. And many of the teachers guiding today's students are Belle Academy alumni themselves, passing on not just technique but the spirit of this place to a whole new generation.
Thirty-five years, three ownerships, and thousands of dancers later — Belle Academy is just getting started.
Dance. Grow. Belong.
